THE CLUBThe West Wicklow Classic and Vintage Vehicle Club is a club for classic and vintage car and vehicle enthusiasts in the West Wicklow, Kildare and Carlow area. We aim to promote the preservation, use and enjoyment of classic cars and vehicles, and organise various events involving classic vehicles which also support local charities and causes. Click through to our Photos page to see the pics! Hollywood Hills Tractor and Classic Run raises €3607!Despite a rainy day our Hollywood Hills Classic and Tractor Run was a storming day out. Nearly 90 vehicles took part on the run, including a wide variety of classics, motorcycles, tractors, and even a vintage bicycle! Participants and visitors enjoyed a fantastic day out, with great food and great entertainment, including Win a Goldfish, Wheel of Fortune, bouncy castle, and more.In addition to all the fun and excitement, a grand total of €3607 euro was raised for the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dún Laoghaire, which is fantastic contribution to this hugely worthwhile cause, and made the event an all round great success! Our sincerest thanks go to Tom Duffy Jr, Mrs Sheila Duffy, and their family, who provided the field for the event and who also helped in many, many other ways both in the preparation as well as during the event. We would also like to thank all the many club members, supporters and friends who contributed and helped in making this event the fantastic success it was. UPCOMING EVENTSNEXT CLUB MEETING:Date TBA, but likely to be 8pm at Germaine's Inisfáil, BaltinglassST PATRICK'S WEEKEND:March 17th, 2012We will hold a run with a St Patrick's theme which will include taking part in a local parade and/or a run. The emphasis will be on fun and a Paddy's day theme, with a prize for the best outfit or best decorated vehicle. HOLLYWOOD HILLS TRACTOR AND CLASSIC RUN:April 29th, 2012This is the first of our two major charity events of the year. Following the success of this event last year it has been decided to make it an annual event with the proceeds going to The National Rehabilitation Hospital. We plan to make this bigger and better than last year with the support of classic and vintage lovers of all persuasions. The tractors will be run on a shorter route than cars etc to avoid holdups. This run takes in some spectacular scenery around the mountains and lakes of West Wicklow, and is well worth a visit for that alone. There will of course be fun and games in the field all day and refreshments for all. You can download a poster for this run by clicking here. CLASSIC CAR LIVE AT MONDELLO:June 17th, 2012We will have a run to this event from Baltinglass, while members from other areas can meet up with us at near the motorway exit and all will then travel to Mondello Park. A club stand will be booked so members can exhibit their vehicles and take part in the activities of the day. TERENURE SHOW:July 8th, 2012This year we hope to have a Club stand at Terenure Show, as this show was very popular with members last year with many in attendance although we did not have a club stand. BALTINGLASS CLASSIC CAR & MOTORCYCLE RUN:August 12th, 2012This will be our third annual running of this very popular event and we plan to follow a similar format to previous years. The run will include a visit to a show as well as fun and games for passengers and children with prizes to be won on the day. The run will as usual end with a dinner and prize giving for all participants. All proceeds from this run will go to a very deserving charity. SEPTEMBER EVENT:Date TBA, but sometime in September 2012We will hold a run to Castledermot Vintage day or a similar event in September as this has proved to be a popular activity in previous years. OTHER EVENTS:Dates TBAIn addition to the above we will also have a number of club events during the year, including club runs, meetings, a treasure hunt and a few other fun events. CLUB NEWSFIRST CLUB MEETING OF 2012West Wicklow Classic & Vintage Vehicle Club held our first meeting of 2012 in Germaine's in Baltinglass on Wed Feb 1st. There was a good attendance and we were very pleased to see quite a few new faces as well as some more established members. We encourage as many of our members as possible to attend meetings as this is where you can contribute your input to the running of the club.The purpose of this meeting was to plan our activities for the coming year, and a broad outline of a busy season took shape during the evening. The main events of our calendar include those listed above. 2011 Annual General Meeting ReportThe Annual General Meeting of The Club was held on Tuesday April 5th.
