Hollywood Hills Tractor and Classic Run raises €3607!
Despite a rainy day our Hollywood Hills Classic and Tractor Run was a storming day out.
Nearly 90 vehicles took part on the run, including a wide variety of classics, motorcycles, tractors, and
even a vintage bicycle! Participants and visitors enjoyed a fantastic day out, with great food and great
entertainment, including Win a Goldfish, Wheel of Fortune, bouncy castle, and more.
In addition to all the fun and excitement, a grand total of €3607 euro was raised for the National Rehabilitation
Hospital in Dún Laoghaire, which is fantastic contribution to this hugely worthwhile cause, and made the event an
all round great success!
Our sincerest thanks go to Tom Duffy Jr, Mrs Sheila Duffy, and their family, who provided the field for the event
and who also helped in many, many other ways both in the preparation as well as during the event.
We would also like to thank all the many club members, supporters and friends who contributed and helped in making this
event the fantastic success it was.
Photos of this terrific event can now be seen on our photos page.

CLUB NEWS
AUTOGLYM CAR CARE PRODUCTS DEMONSTRATION
We had our AUTO GLYM care care night on Tuesday Nov 8th. This turned out to be a very informative and entertaining evening.
Ted Gaffney Importer and distributor of AUTO GLYM, ably assisted by his wife, gave an informative presentation on all aspects
of car cleaning and protection, inside and out, to the members present. He demonstrated the correct use of some of the products as
well as comprehensive information on the whole range of products available. He also passed on some really useful tips on how to deal
with various car cleaning problems and how to get a vehicle looking its best, while also entertaining us with stories from his
experiences in the car and classic industry.
Ted answered all questions posed by members of the audience and was extreme knowlegeable about every aspect of caring for classic cars.
At the end of the evening they very generously distributed free samples of some of their products to the attendees.
The club very much appreciate Ted and his wife coming to our meeting and spending the evening demonstrating the products and answering
our questions. Thanks also to Don Manley for providing a panel for demonstrating some of the products on.
WWCVVC Annual Classic Car & Motorcycle Run 2011
We held our second Annual Classic run in Baltinglass on Sunday August 7th.
This year’s event was again run in aid of the local West Wicklow Daycare Centre which is based in Baltinglass Hospital.
The run started with registration in Germaine’s of Baltinglass and got under way at 2:30 in quite good weather despite the
threatening clouds that were appearing over the nearby hills.
By the start time a good selection of cars and bikes ranging from the fifties to the eighties had registered and we headed off
led by Tom Duffy on the first leg of our run. This took us on a variety of roads to Tullow where we were hosted by the Carlow Vintage
and Classic club at their show. We spent a little over an hour there viewing the cars on show and were very pleasantly surprised by
having prizes awarded to three of our members’ cars. First prize for a WWCVVC member went to Jack Epstein for his beautiful
1973 Triumph Stag while Martin Curry took second place with his gleaming red MGB GT and third went to Dermot O’Reilly with a beautiful
Renault 16.
We then set out on our return leg which took us back to Baltinglass by a somewhat longer route and returned to Germaine’s for dinner
and prizegiving etc. Everybody who took part was awarded a commemorative medal. A delicious dinner was served by Joseph Germaine
and his staff and both food and service were up to the usual high standard. The prize for Best Car on the run was won by
Dermot O’Reilly for his Renault 16 while the prize for best Motorcycle was awarded to Brendan Murphy for his fantastic
1974 Sanglas 400 that he bought as a frame and engine which he was assured “was running” and very little else. He then brought it
back to life over the past year or so having spent the previous 20 in various sheds. There was also a trophy for a passenger’s
observation test that proved rather difficult so both complete forms handed in were awarded prizes. First went to Anna Hinkofer, who
may have had some local help, and second went to Billy Kelly. Prizes were also awarded for the children’s puzzle where everybody was
a winner and there was a raffle for a good selection of prizes donated by local businesses.
WWCVVC wish to thank everybody who took part in the run and all who helped in any way in organising or running the event especially
Tom Duffy who led the way in his jeep and our marshals on the roads. We also extend our gratitude to all our sponsors and advertisers
in our booklet and all who donated prizes etc. This event raised €1279.93 of much needed funding for the West Wicklow Daycare Centre.
